Why did you decide to join Business Council?
Kayla: I joined BC because I wanted a group of people who were very social as well as professional. BC is a place where everyone is highly motivated, and at the same time they’re all very supportive of each other.
Ananya: I decided to join BC because I am an international student and I wanted to find an organization to make a close group of friends.
Arnav: I tagged along with my roommate to the info night, and the information I got was mind-blowing. I learned that BC loves giving back to the community and really enriches each member professionally and socially.
What has been your favorite moment of Business Council so far?
Kayla: Ananya and I went canoeing, and I did all of the work. I tried to paddle us to the end of the river and she got us stuck in a tree. Thankfully, we survived.
Ananya: My favorite moment was free pizza in the internal meeting.
Arnav: We had a Jimmy Buffett volleyball tournament, and Calvin Sailer and I had been looking forward to it for a long time, because he said he played volleyball in high school.
What are you studying and why?
Arnav: I am studying engineering because I love making things.
Ananya: I thought finance and accounting would prepare me for a career in investment banking. Ultimately, I would like to have a career in politics.
Kayla: I was involved with journalism in high school, so I thought documentary film-making would be an interesting field to study. However, my career goals have recently shifted towards business.
What else are you involved with on campus?
Kayla: I am also involved with EntreCorps, Asian American Association, and The Daily Illini.
Ananya: I am involved in Model UN, and I have a job at the Union Bookstore. Just for your information, there are no discounts for students, thank you!
Arnav: I am also involved with Illinois Formula Electric.
What are you looking forward to within Business Council?
Kayla: I am looking forward to becoming best friends with some of the most awesome people I’ve ever met!
Ananya: I am looking forward to being on the other side while recruiting new members to give the experience that I had to them.
Arnav: I am looking forward to making lifelong relationships and giving back to the community, because I think that’s where BC differentiates itself from the other business organizations.
