Why did you decide to join BC?
Joanna: I am not a business student, I’m an economics major. I wanted something that would put me back in the loop of business and show me how to act in the professional world.
Michael: I wanted to get more involved with the College of Business. I wanted to meet people who had the same interests as me and going through info night I met a lot of people with different personalities that had the same interests as me.
Adam: BC is much like a mullet. Business in the front, party in the back. I knew it from my first experience with BC at info night. Each member presented themselves with great professionalism, and when I spoke to them they all had awesome personalities. I knew this would be an organization I wanted to commit time to.
What has been your favorite moment of BC so far?
Joanna: I really like the new member meetings. They’re really fun. It’s nice how our whole class can be together and bond. Every time I go into [the new member meetings] I get close with someone new.
Michael: My favorite moment of BC was dropping stacks at date auction.
Adam: The first day – people cheering as we introduced ourselves, the barbecue, and the new member party. I knew then it wasn’t an act: BC is as awesome as I thought they were.
What are you studying and why?
Joanna: I am studying economics, that’s what I was studying last year before I transferred to Illinois. I really liked it, so I wanted to keep up with it. I really like learning about the economy and how it changes.
Michael: I am interested in marketing for sure, but I am also deciding between supply chain management, management, or international business. I’ve always liked marketing because of how you try appeal to your audience, and I want to live in a foreign country at some point in my life so I think international business would help with that.
Adam: I am currently studying Marketing and look to complete a Computer Science degree as well. I love business, I love business interactions, and I am also a tech junkie. So combining the two seems like the best option for me.
What else are you involved with on campus?
Joanna: On campus, I am involved with mock trial, and I am also in Prime.
Michael: BC was the only priority for me first semester, but I am looking for other clubs and organizations to join next semester.
Adam: I also do work with EntreCORPS, a consulting group for startups. This year I am working with Tweetsense, a data analytics startup that correctly predicted Brexit, the Chicago Mayoral Elections, and the recent presidential elections.
What are you looking forward to within BC?
Joanna: I am looking forward to growing professionally. I really like the professional events, especially the technology events where you learn all of the shortcuts, like how to work more efficiently. I am looking forward to seeing how everyone will grow within themselves and the professional world.
Michael: I am most interested in becoming an active member and meeting new member classes that come in through the next few years.
Adam: I look forward to having a new New Member class. It will be a chance to pass on all the help Fall ’16 has received in getting acclimated to a new group.
